Nombreux sont ceux qui s'attendaient à un "happy ending" à la Friends après les neuf longues saisons d'une série qui s'essoufflait. Problème certains fans s'étaient indignés de la fin tragique des aventures de Ted, Barney, Robin, Lily et Marshall. C'était "peut-être un drame plutôt qu'une comédie", s'était justifié le coscénariste de la série, Craig Thomas. Face à cette vindicte populaire - qui a même poussé certains à créer une pétition en ligne -, les créateurs Craig Thomas et Carter Bays avaient indiqué qu'une fin alternative avait été tournée en parallèle, avec laquelle ils ont longuement hésité. Ce nouveau dénouement sera disponible dans le coffret DVD de la saison 9, le 3 novembre prochain. Que les plus impatients se rassurent, une vidéo a fuité avant l'heure sur Internet ce week-end. Bien que CBS, la chaîne américaine qui diffuse la série, n'ait pas confirmé son authenticité, les fans ont sauté sur l'occasion pour partager la vidéo et commenter cette conclusion inédite. Enfin satisfaits ? Cette fin parallèle est, sans surprise, beaucoup plus heureuse que la première. On retrouve le groupe d'amis, toujours aussi soudés, dans une série de flash-back narrés par Ted Mosby. Tout se termine sur la scène romantique avec la mère sous le parapluie jaune, un plan déjà vu dans l'épisode d'origine. Évidemment, la vidéo en a ravi certains et en a déçu d'autres, et il semblerait que, quelle que soit la manière dont se terminera How I Met Your Mother, on sera toujours déçu de ne plus suivre les péripéties amoureuses de Ted et de sa bande d'amis...
